The J.Booth Toque Story Jennifer taught herself to knit as an adult while making her Voyageur costume for the Rendezvous '84 canoe trip. The enjoyment of knitting created the desire to design a product and living in a cold climate, the J.BOOTH TOQUE evolved. The idea of the original fur earflaps grew from some fur coats Jennifer inherited from her grandmother. With over 2900 toques hand knit the tradition continues on. Each toque is numbered and all fur used is recycled from fur clothing. Hand knit wool toques made from Alafoss Lopi wool(from Iceland) with fur or fleece-lined earflaps. Sizes range from Toddler to x-large and come in a wide variety of colours.Toddler toques are $30 and small(average child) to x-large are $50. Qualities of Wool-Wool has remained an essential material because of it's inherent qualities. It is light and flexible, allowing your toque to mold to your head in a non-constrictive way. It's naturally water-resistant and provides necessary warmth and comfort. The therapeutic qualities of wool are being re-discovered and acknowledged; it creates warmth and a sense of well-being.
